Lovely Northland

06-Oct-2009 OUAT TEAM (us + kids) went a familiarisation trip to Northland

It was a great trip despite the fact that the weather was not that sunny as it is usually in this subtropical part of New Zealand.
What to see and what do in this area :
- Walking in the lovely township of Russel and visiting oldest kiwi houses in Kerikeri, beautiful bays to discover by boat on a cruise or from the sky with a scenic flight.
- 90 Mile Beach on which you can drive on a bus or on a 4x4.
- Cape Reinga, (almost) northern point of New Zealand where Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet.
- Hokianga Harbour dunes, starting point to Coastal Track and giant Kauri forests.
- Further south of Bay of Islands, you will find Cape Brett for a nice walk up to the remote lighthouse then Tutukaka Coast and its spectacular seascapes, sandy beaches and rock pools.
- And for scuba diving addicts, best spot of the country, Poor Knights IslandsĀ are not far offshore and and waiting for you.
