Southland & Stewart Island

This is our soft spot. Not just because it is so tiny and isolated and at the bottom corner of the map. It is such a pretty place too, it is wild and you will love it!
Nature lovers are in for a treat. You will patiently wait until it gets cold and dark to spot a clumsy white thing looking for cover in the distance: that will be the famous yellow-eyed-penguin in search of a place to hide! In Southland, be ready to experience different or more basic types of accommodation with less choice and availability. This is for those wanting to get off the beaten track. Being away from most things, wildlife can thrive peacefully in the area.
As for Stewart Island, a similar atmosphere awaits you and the icing on the cake comes in the form of the Kiwi which can be spotted even during the day!
