West Coast
The big downside of this New Zealand region may be its weather! Be prepared to get wet, and things could only get worse as you head further south in the Fiordland. The ideal season to get there is from June to August, whereas most other regions show their best profile from November to March! But we don't tell you the whole truth if we don't mention that West Coast is longer than the distance between Auckland and Wellington so let's no lump it all together, when it's sunny, it's magic. The road could be a little bit long but thanks to the god of Nature, there is a spectacular stop at Punakaiki. Although we are no strangers to icy patches, a heli drop on top of a glacier or walk between crevasses in full mountain gear with professional guides makes for a seriously attractive experience! This is why we strongly advise to spend two nights on location to be able to fulfil this dream while taking exceptional snapshots.
