OUAT Story

OUAT has been in our minds for years. It is a dream come true for a project that was conceived in Cape Verde back in 2002. We wanted to create something while doing what we love and what we’re good at: travel and offer to travel.

We wanted this project to be realised in a country that is surprisingly diverse, with a different culture and a strong backbone of solid infrastructure and positive mindset in a safe place. We had discovered New Zealand on our honeymoon and it soon became the obvious choice. The decision was quickly made, regardless of the distance. Just over a year later, we had moved in with our toddlers and set up a company within weeks. Kiwis are warm hearted, helpful and welcoming. A low population density, mild weather with real seasons, a true passion for the environment and the ability to enjoy simple pleasures like sharing a glass on the deck with your mates make it one of the best places in the world to live in.

Why “Once Upon A Trip”?

We witnessed the impact of the magic formula “Once upon a time” in the amazed eyes of our children. This invitation to the imagination made us want to catch your attention and invite you on a discovery trip to the other end of the world. This site proposes you to start escaping both visually and mentally. The tone is light, icons are fun, and the green colour reminds of young geological areas, but everything relies on evident knowledge.

We also had in our minds those Great Explorers who crossed oceans and seas to discover new lands and had to write with a quill pen to share what they were seeing.
