Throughout the day listen to stories of the mountains, lakes, and the people of the local tribe, Tuwharetoa.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a fusion of Maori culture and education all pulled together with story-telling, experiential learning, environmental sensitivity and using the senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell - all this while surrounded by the splendor of the sacred mountains of the Central North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.

On this guided tour guests hear local stories, such as the love story that caused a rift between the mountains. They will learn about volcanoes, experience raw nature and see magnificent sights, and take great photos. All of this is done in a stress free manner aided by the local guides, all of whom are Maori and have a strong affinity with the mountain Tongariro. The guides provide a relaxing, stress free, informative and entertaining walk that is supported by the beauty and peace of nature
