Day 1 : Auckland
Exhausted or not, depending where do you arrive from… We have a good plan for you if you are not too excited to drive right away, I mean on the left, to your accommodation. Take our shuttle and get over gently from your jetlag.
Day 2 : Auckland
Can’t sleep anymore? Auckland is a melting pot of European, South Pacific and Asian cultures and a strong indigenous Maori heritage. This diversity brings an abundance of unique dining and shopping experiences. Auckland's temperate climate, easy access to the coast and variety of activities earn the city consistent top five rankings in international lifestyle surveys.
Day 3 : Auckland - Waiheke Island (sailing 35 min)
Take the boat to Waiheke Island, the jewel of Hauraki Gulf ! Pick up your car and start to drive around this little piece of land. You will be very surprised by the Mediterranean atmosphere you can feel here.
Day 4 : Waiheke Island
Waiheke Island is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves. There is a great range of activities on Waiheke. Options include sightseeing, mountain biking, sea kayaking, a relaxed vineyard tour and much more. The delectable cuisine on offer is complemented by a range of award-winning wines produced at the island's many wineries. Significant industries on the island include wine-making, olive production, tourism and arts, crafts.
Day 5 : Waiheke Island - Auckland (sailing 35 min) - Bay of Islands (230km - 3h)
In the morning, drop of your car. Back to Auckland, drive north to the Bay of Islands, transfers are organized to pick up your new car. Rich in culture and history and blessed with a pristine natural environment, no visit to New Zealand is complete without a visit to Northland. Learn about the arrival of the first Maori canoes to New Zealand and the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Days 6-7 : Bay of Islands
The townships of this historic bay are infused with both Maori and European history. You'll find out why the Bay of Islands is considered to be the birthplace of New Zealand as a bi-cultural nation. You'll also see how Maori culture and lifestyle have adapted to modern times. Wherever you are in the Bay of Islands, there are plenty of recreational activities in the blue-green world of island and beach: charter a yacht or launch, dive or snorkel, paddle a sea kayak in and out of the islands' nooks and crannies or swim with the dolphins.
Day 8 : Bay of Islands - Great Barrier Island (flight 30 min)
Drop of your car at Whangarei and take a flight to Great Barrier Island. The walks on Great Barrier Island are amongst the best in New Zealand. There are more than 100km of well-maintained tracks offering spectacular sightseeing amid canyons, valleys, native forest, mountains and coastline. Most walking experiences on Great Barrier are of tramping track standard and require a reasonable level of fitness.
Days 9-10 : Great Barrier Island
Great Barrier Island is a remote, tranquil and untouched paradise 90km north east of central Auckland. Located at the edge of the Hauraki Gulf, Great Barrier Island is one of the most unspoilt places you’ll ever find. From tramping through native forest, to sea kayaking around coves and inlets, there are endless ways to explore this stunning adventurer’s paradise
Day 11 : Great Barrier Island- Auckland (flight 40 min)
It is time to get back to civilization. Fly back to Auckland.
